Horizons « Arts Nature » Encounters is an innovating event of land art. Each work, designed to the scale of the landscape, is a true invitation to opening up to the world of nature that surrounds us. Volcano summits, crater lakes, winding rivers, fields and forests … at 11 emblematic sites of the Massif du Sancy, some hardly known, will stage such ephemeral creations. The many natural or original materials used to offer the cleverest creations and see them blossom, ever so unique and aesthetic, on all the sites.

For this third edition, there wil be 11 works that is to say one more than the 2 past years. This is due to the entry of Saint-Nectaire, at the beginning of this year, in the territory of the Massif du Sancy.

11 works that means 11 artists chosen among 200 applications, coming from all over the world. From Saint-Nectaire dolmen to the Fairy hill at La Bourboule, Horizons 2009 display a new perspective in order to discover the amazing landscapes of the Massif du Sancy.

98% from the visitors of the previous editions enjoyed discovering this event and 96% wish to come back. Each year, 200 000 visitors came from France and other countries.

If you travel with your children or alone, if you are an art expert or a true greenhorn, attend at Horizons Encounters that means also 11 ideas to go hiking through the Massif du Sancy discovering this territory from another perspective!

Horizons 2009: an ecological event involving artists coming from all over the world.

As part of an ecological approach, the works made for Horizons use environment-friendly materials so as to preserve the sites, most of which benefit from environmental protection measures. Work upstream has thus been conducted for the installation of the works in the Regional Natural Park of the Auvergne Volcanoes.

Horizons « Arts Nature » Encounters is also an event of international scale : this year, artists coming from countries such as Russia, United States, Israël, Bulgaria … and of course from Europe will participate to this third edition. Another specificity of this 2009 edition lies in the fact that 7 artists are women out of 11.
