Thomas Cook creates website for tablets
Thomascook.com has launched an all-new web platform for tablet computers – with a fully functioning website built to fit a small screen.
The tour operator claims recent data from Google found of the travel related searches made in the UK in the second quarter of last year, 13% were made on mobile phones and 15% were made on tablet computers.
Thomas Cook says the new layout will also allow customers to switch easily from smart phone, to tablet, to PC and back again.
If forms part of the operator’s transformation programme to be an ‘omni-channel’ business – attracting customers through various channels.
"Tablets and smart devices are continuing to impact how consumers use the internet, and this is particularly true of the travel industry," said John Straw, head of eCommence, Thomas Cook Group.
"Our website must be able to adjust to everyone’s preferred way to book, and our new Tablet platform is a further example of how we’re updating our technologies to better suit our customer’s needs and requirements."
