Thomas Cook loses fourth senior executive in a month
Danny Talbot, managing director of Thomas Cook Sport, is the latest high profile employee to leave the travel company which has announced the loss of three senior executives already this month.
Talbot announced today that he will leave Thomas Cook Sport at the end of the year to join Kempster, a sponsorship activation agency, as managing director.
His resignation follows those of Neil Morris, chief commercial officer, and Michelle MacMahon, chief financial officer. Thomas Cook also announced last week that Thomas Doering, chief executive for e-commerce, was being replaced by Susan Duinhoven, former chief executive of western Europe.
Morris, whose role was to review yield and discounting strategies and the operator’s aviation and capacity planning, said he was leaving at the end of this month to "pursue new challenges".
MacMahon, said she was leaving to work permanently in London but will stay with the business until December.
Talbot, who grew Thomas Cook Sport to be Europe’s largest sports tour operator, said: "I have had a fabulous eight years at Thomas Cook Sport working with a truly inspirational team and great partners throughout the sports industry.
"I know the company will go from strength to strength but the time is right for me to move on with a wonderful opportunity at Kempster and play my part in their exciting plans for the future. I have long admired Amy Kemp’s business and the first-class work her team has produced at some of the world’s biggest sports and music events."
Amy Kemp, Kempster founder, said:" Danny will bring a new dimension to Kempster, adding his own industry leading skills and experience to our entrepreneurial team. We’re thrilled that Danny’s decided to make this move to join us."
