Thomas Cook staff face Corfu retrial
Two Thomas Cook resort staff face a new trail despite being acquitted in a case involving the death of two children from carbon monoxide poisoning in a Corfu holiday bungalow.
Richard Carson and Nicola Gibson were cleared of manslaughter earlier this month after a four-month hearing.
The father of of the victims, Christianne Shepherd (7) and brother Robert (6), appealed against the decision over the deaths from a faulty boiler which leaked gas into the accommodation in 2006.
Tthe judicial authorities on the island have ruled that there was a miscarriage of justice after the children’s family said vital evidence had been ignored.
The new court case is expected to be held later this year.
