Thomson criticised following death of cabin steward
Thomson has been criticised for failing to co-operate with a coroner’s inquiry after one of its cabin stewards apparently committed suicide.
Sean McGrorty, who worked on Thomson flights from Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport, hanged himself when he believed he was about to be exposed for fraudulently selling holidays.
At the inquest, the coroner criticised Thomson for its failing to provide full details about his employment and the work-related stress he suffered in the months leading up to his death, according to a report in Doncaster newspaper, The Star.
The inquest heard that he had twice applied for transfers away from Doncaster but that these had been refused.
Following his death, Thomson set up a helpdesk to handle complaints from people who had booked holidays with him.
