Thomson first Dreamliner flights from Bristol on sale this month
Thomson Airways has confirmed its Dreamliner flights from Bristol will go on sale later this month.
The carrier will launch services to Cancun in Mexico and to Sanford in Florida from the west country airport in summer 2017, using the 787 aircraft.
The move will allow Thomson and First Choice to offer a range of holidays to the Caribbean and Florida direct from Bristol for the first time. The companies offered packages to these destinations from Bristol up to two years ago, but at the time it wasn’t able to offer direct flights.
The holiday company said the launch of the new long-haul flights from Bristol was part of its strategy to ensure customers across the UK can fly from their local airports.
Thomson Airways will also offer three new European routes from Bristol to Catania in Italy, Chania in Greece and Girona in Spain, plus additional flights to Gran Canaria, Pula in Croatia and Paphos in Cyprus in 2017.
Mark Hall, director of product for Thomson and First Choice, said: "We are committed to taking customers on holiday from their local airport and we’re excited to be able to introduce these direct long haul routes from Bristol.
"We were the first UK airline to take delivery of the 787 Dreamliner, which has enabled us to open up new destinations for Thomson and First Choice customers and fly them there in style.
"It also means our customers can have access to our portfolio of unique hotels, which they can only book through us, flying direct from Bristol airport."
Shaun Browne, Bristol Airport’s aviation director, said: "Today marks another major milestone in Bristol Airport’s route development."
