Thomson to ‘crowd source’ wedding

Monday, 14 Apr, 2014 0

In what it is claiming will be a first for the UK, Thomson is to use social media to ‘crowd source’ a wedding in Cyprus for one British couple.

The chosen bride and groom will hand over some of their biggest wedding planning decision to Facebook and Twitter users who will collectively choose the colour scheme, the style of the wedding dress and bridesmaid dress, stag and hen dos and the couple’s first dance.

The most popular suggestions from Facebook and Twitter users will be shortlisted and put to the vote on Facebook, after which they will be handed over to Thomson’s wedding planners to shape the day.

Thomson managing director David Burling joked that the couple will still be able to make the most important decision of all. "They’ll be allowed to choose their own partner," he said.

The wedding will take place at the Thomson Platinum Athena Beach Hotel in Cyprus.

The winning  #YourBigDay couple will also share their wedding planning by writing regular posts on the Thomson blog.

The closing dates for couples to apply is May 12 at 12 noon and a panel of judges will select the winning pair.
