Thomson unveils ‘Mr & Mrs’ Dreamliners
In a UK first, Thomson Airways has named its eighth and ninth Dreamliner aircraft as ‘Mr Patmore’ and ‘Mrs Patmore’ following a nationwide search to find the most romantic story.
Hayley and Chris Patmore from Kent entered a competition launched by Thomson in the run up to Valentine’s Day on Sunday.
The couple met 22 years ago whilst on holiday with their families in Great Yarmouth when they were both just 13. The pair kept their teenage romance alive by writing to one another, but they lost contact after a year only to be reunited three years on the very same holiday.
Years into their relationship, Mrs Patmore viewed an old holiday video of herself as a three-year-old on a swing and noticed that the little boy on the swing next to her was her future husband – but they weren’t to meet for another 10 years.
Thomson Airways MD John Murphy said: "Last year we were really proud to welcome two more 787 Dreamliner’s onto our revolutionary fleet.
"Receiving delivery of two aircraft offered us a unique opportunity to name them as a pair, an opportunity which we gave back to our customers.
"The response to the #DreamlinerLove competition was overwhelming, Mr and Mrs Patmore’s story captured our attention and we look forward to taking the newly named aircraft to the skies."
In addition to having two aircraft named after them, the couple were awarded £100, which they plan to use to take their children on holiday for their wedding anniversary.
