Thousands disrupted by Italian air traffic strike
Thousands of passengers were disrupted on Saturday following a strike by Italian air traffic controllers.
All flights to and from Italian airports were affected with airlines being forced to revise their schedules and cancel flights.
EasyJet cancelled around 60 flights while Ryanair said that 96 flights have been cancelled, listing eight UK flights affected.
British Airways cancelled two Heathrow-bound flights from Rome and one from Milan during the afternoon.
A spokeswoman for BA said where possible it had re-timed flights and used larger aircraft to help customers from cancelled flights.
The Licta Union, which represents air traffic control workers employed by ENAV, staged the four hour strike from 12:30 to 16:30 (11.30 to 15.30 GMT) on Saturday.
