Thousands to attend funeral of PC Keith Palmer
Police officers from around the UK are among thousands expected to turn out for the funeral of PC Keith Palmer, who died in last month’s Westminster terror attack.
Roads have been closed and flags are flying at half mast ahead of the service this afternoon, which will see PC Palmer’s coffin taken from the Palace of Westminster, where it has lain in rest over night, to Southwark Cathedral.
It’s expected to be the biggest ever gathering of police officers in the UK and representatives from every UK police force will attend.
PC Palmer died in the attack on March 22, along with three other people and the attacker, Khalid Masood.
A sixth person, Andrea Cristea, 31, from Romania, died from her injuries on Saturday.
She was visiting London with her boyfriend and was knocked from Westminster Bridge into the river by the car driven by Masood. Her boyfriend, Andrei Burnaz, suffered a broken foot.
Masood drove his car at speed into people walking across Westminster Bridge before running into the grounds of the Houses of Parliament and attacking PC Palmer with a knife.
