Three little letters make even more of Africa
Isn’t it amazing that the three little letters “ern”, could make such a difference to the perception of a huge destination?
My perception of tourism to Africa consisted I suppose of a rather dominant tourism image of South Africa and some countries much further north, including Egypt, Morocco etc.
I was aware of some African countries somewhere between, including Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania etc, but I never really had a clear or good understanding of what they all were, what they entailed and what they offered visitors.
Today, that all changed through meeting the amazing representatives of RETOSA – The Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa, who are on a roadshow tour of Australia this week.
The Brisbane travel agent’s event was on Monday and the Sydney event on Tuesday, so I am sorry if you missed those two, but for Melbourne agents, your event is not until Wednesday and Perth agents, your event is not until Thursday – I would make a point of getting an invite if I were you, through the contacts below!
It came home to The Mole clearly and loudly, that while South Africa is a key and major partner in RETOSA, the 14 other countries in Southern Africa, offer amazingly diverse, high quality products and experiences for tourists from Australia. They include: – The Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zanzibar, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Seychelles and Mauritius.
RETOSA’s 14 diverse and exciting countries also include the legendary wildlife covered plains of Tanzania, the Coral Coastlines of Mozambique, the vineyards, bustling cities and big game reserves of South Africa, Botswana’s Okavango Delta – the jewel of Africa, or the grand mountains of Lesotho.
They also include, the unparalleled Victoria Falls shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe, the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro and the renowned tropical beaches of the Seychelles and Mauritius.
For more information on all these amazing countries, described as The Essence of Africa, including hotels, tour operators, tours, etc, please visit www.retosa.co.za or contact Fred Sparksman at Integra Tourism Marketing on 02 9959 4277 or [email protected]
