Three Queens Go Sailing By in Cunard’s 2008 Program

Cunard has launched its 2008 program, featuring the inaugural season of its newest liner, Queen Victoria, as well as itineraries for the world’s largest liner, Queen Mary 2 and the world’s most celebrated liner, Queen Elizabeth 2.

The program is a landmark for the legendary cruise line which, for the first time in its 168-year history, will offer its guests the choice of sailing on one of three Queens – the most famous ocean liners in the world.

On sale in Australia from March 31, the 2008 program includes the maiden season for the stunning 90,000-ton Queen Victoria, featuring a series of Mediterranean voyages as well as visits to the Baltic and the Black Sea. Meanwhile, the magnificent 151,400-ton Queen Mary 2 will continue her revival of the golden age of transatlantic travel, while the classic QE2 features her popular program from Southampton.

The year will start in celebration with all three Queens spectacularly meeting in New York Harbour on January 13, 2008 for a ‘Royal Rendezvous’ before they go their own ways to offer voyages to a host of memorable destinations.

During their world voyages, Queen Victoria and QE2 will visit 10 Australian and New Zealand ports, with a spectacular meeting of the two ships planned for Sydney on February 24, 2008 as Queen Victoria makes her maiden call. The dual visit will come one year after the much-celebrated joint call in Sydney by Queen Mary 2 and her little sister, QE2, on February 20, 2007.

Overall the Cunard fleet will offer more than 40 itineraries and more than 95 ports of call or destinations in 2008.  Itineraries highlights include:

Queen Victoria – Nine Mediterranean voyages departing from a choice of ports and priced from A$3289 per person*, complete twin. These 12-day Mediterranean, Greek Isles and Black Sea voyages offer some exciting ports-of-call en route including Dubrovnik, Cannes, Mykonos, Istanbul, Izmir, Santorini, Odessa, Alexandria and Malta.   Queen Victoria’s itineraries have been designed to offer high port content, and many calls in 2008 will be maiden visits with spectacular welcomes expected for the world’s newest Queen.

Queen Mary 2 will spend much of the year fulfilling the role for which she was built – crossing the Atlantic between Southampton and New York. In 2008 there is an expanded transatlantic program, which offers 24 six-day crossings, priced from A$1699 per person*, complete twin. Queen Mary 2 will also offer four transatlantic sailings to and from Hamburg, Germany, as well as two new crossings to and from Cherbourg, France.  Her program also includes Mediterranean and Caribbean voyages.

QE2, the world’s most beloved ocean liner will offer 17 voyages to the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Canada in 2008, with fares from A$2699 per person* complete twin for a 14-day ‘Mediterranean Sojourn’.
