Three routes from North East added by Jet2.com
Amsterdam, Pisa and Menorca are to be added as new destinations from Newcastle by budget carrier Jet2.com.
The service to the Dutch city starts on April 27 next year with two flights a day, with fares starting at £9.99 one-way.
The Menorca link starts on May 25 with prices leading in at £31, while Pisa is introduced at a date to be confirmed next spring.
The expansion represents a doubling of capacity by the airline from Newcastle airport.
The airline’s chief executive Philip Meeson said: “Research by Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in shows that in comparison with other regional UK airports, such as Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Manchester, the Amsterdam to Newcastle route was being underserved by about 5,000 seats per week.
“We are pleased to now be in a position to reverse this trend and offer the people of the North East the low cost services they need.
“Menorca is a wonderful place to go on holiday and for £31, we believe our sunshine flights will be snapped up at this price, so we’re urging people thinking of travelling to book early to guarantee the lowest fares.
“As for Pisa, this has always been an extremely popular destination with Jet2.com passengers in other areas of the North and I’m confident it will be no exception here.”
