Tiger clawed by AirAsia
AirAsia has stepped up its attacks on rival low cost carrier Tiger Airways, launching newspaper ads in Singapore lampooning Tiger’s ability to run an efficient airline.
Malaysia-based AirAsia ran a full-page ad in the Singapore Straits times with the tagline, “If Tigers were meant to fly, they would be born with wings”.
AirAsia also alluded to the cancellation of Tiger flights in recent weeks with the message that AirAsia was “guaranteed to fly every dayâ€.
Last week AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes was accused of racism when he attacked Tiger Airways proposed alliance with Thai Airways, claiming an Asian airline should not be run by “a bunch of white guys†– a clear reference to Tiger boss, Tony Davis.
Fernandes appears rattled by the threat posed by the proposed budget airline, Thai Tiger Airways, which would compete with AirAsia subsidiary, Thai AirAsia.
