Tigerair adds extra AFL flights for footy fans
Tigerair Australia is laying on more flights for Sydney AFL fans heading to the Grand Final in Melbourne.
Tigerair flies up to nine flights between Sydney and Melbourne daily on its normal schedule and is adding an extra two round-trip services on Saturday to allow Sydney fans to get there and back the same day.
Tigerair Australia’s Commercial Director Adam Rowe said the carrier is pleased to enable more Swans’ fans to catch their team in action against the Hawks at this year’s Grand Final.
"Whilst flights to Melbourne are selling well, there are still great value fares available in the lead up to and on game day itself for fans who are up for a once in a life time day trip," he said.
Meanwhile fans of both teams are being warned to expect longer waits to get into the stadium.
Australia’s heightened terrorism threat level will mean extensive bag checks.
"We believe we’ve got a security overlay that will keep people safe, so I would encourage people to go along to the AFL and enjoy your day," said Victoria police commissioner Ken Lay.
