TMC consortium land £40 million contract
A consortium of P&O Business Travel, Hotelscene and Harry Weeks Travel has won a three-year, £40 million contract to handle the corporate travel of Network Rail.
P&O Business Travel will handle the air and Eurostar requirements, Hotelscene will look after its hotel and conference business while Harry Weeks Travel will deal with the network’s rail travel.
It is thought it is the first time that travel management companies have banded together to mount a successful bid.
P&O Business Travel managing director Alan Coles said: “This is a landmark account win that we believe will set a strong precedent for how companies manage their travel in future.
“Technology is making it much more effective for specialists to deliver a seamless product to clients that minimises transaction costs but maximises the management expertise we can give them.”
The partnership will see Network Rail move rapidly from zero use of online booking to a high level of automation. Staff computers will include the booking technology of Hotelscene and Harry Weeks Travel.
“They have excellent records of moving clients to adoption rates in excess of 50% in a few months,” a statement said.
The systems enable staff to book within company policy and provide account management aimed at optimising travel spend.
