TMS underlines Queensland-based travel industry staffing opportunity

TMS Asia-Pacific (TMS) has advised travel businesses considering relocating to Queensland they could be making a canny decision in the current investment climate.

According to TMS State Manager Queensland, Amber Pennell, the local travel industry job market is booming with Queensland able to offer a much larger employee candidate pool than other parts of the country.

This, she said, was particularly the case in Brisbane and along the Gold Coast corridor,

Her comments follow this month’s release of Queensland Government (Office of Economic and Statistical Research) figures* which show growing numbers of businesses lured to the sunshine state by attractive investment and lifestyle opportunities continue to have a major effect on the state’s employment figures.

Figures show full-time employment in Queensland grew by 8,700 jobs for the month of August bringing the state’s year to date increase to 54,900 jobs, many travel and hospitality industry-related.

These figures accounted for more than a third (34.2 per cent) of national growth.

“There is a misconception that there is a scarcity of good quality middle-to-senior management candidates in Queensland but that definitely is not the case,” Ms Pennell said.

“Over the last quarter TMS has helped fill more than a dozen middle-to-senior management roles in this state and we currently have several executive positions ready to be filled.

“These range from operational management, trainers and product roles to a state business development manager position and airline executives.

‘We’re definitely interested in and regularly connecting with experienced people looking to further their careers in this booming market.

“TMS is also in position to provide a valuable start point for any organisation – established, newly-arrived or considering relocation – with an appropriate recruitment solution.”
