Toe-testing the hotel waters

Thursday, 03 Apr, 2008 0

If you wondered the latest gimmick in the burgeoning luxury five-star hotel market, try the “toe-tester.”

It’s now available at the Regent Bal Harbour, which calls itself the first luxury hotel to open there in half a century.

“For discerning travelers who demand warmth and comfort at all times, the custom showers with floor-to-ceiling views of the Atlantic feature a faucet groove ‘toe tester’ that allows guests to check the temperature of the water with their toe, before turning on the faucet head to take their shower,” says the hotel.

The Bal Harbour has 13 studios and “executive suites.” Rooms have large terraces with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Haulover Inlet.

Rates start at $750 a night.
