Top five summer destinations
Where are people going this summer in North America?
New York/New York City and Alaska lead the list, according to the National Tour Association (NTA).
They were followed by a three-way tie with Niagara Falls, California and Washington, D. C.
“Pent-up demand is bringing international and domestic travelers back,” said NTA chairman Mitch Sussman.
He suggested Alaska is a top seller because it has a variety of experiences. Both New York and Washington are regarded as safe destinations as the memory of 9-11 recedes.
Niagara Falls is regaining popularity as travelers set aside fear of SARS, he said, and California is always popular because of its diversity.
