Tourism Australia Scoops British Travel Award
Tourism Australia has been voted the best Tourist Board in the Asia/Pacific/Africa category by the UK travel trade at the British Travel Awards 2006 of which TravelMole was major sponsor.
Trade opinions were sought via travel industry partners through a series of e-broadcasts to industry databases, newswire articles and mail shots, plus advertisements and articles in industry publications, newsletters and announcements at industry gatherings.
Tourism Australia received the award in the same week that Australia was ranked the top overall country brand in the annual Country Brand Index 2006 (CBI).
Developed by FutureBrand, a leading global brand consultancy, in conjunction with public relations firm Weber Shandwick’s Global Travel Practice, the global study of more than 1,500 international travellers, travel industry experts and hospitality professionals examines how countries can be branded and ranked according to key criteria.
Tourism Australia was also voted Tourist Board of the Year 2006 at the TTG Awards held in September, fighting off strong competition from Barbados, Canada, Dubai and Jamaica.
The award recognised Tourism Australia’s activity in the UK over the past year.
