Tourism conference postponed amid political unrest in Tunisia
Tunisian tourist officials have cancelled a conference in Tunis this week due to the country’s continuing political unrest.
The National Forum on Tunisian Tourism Strategy, Vision 2016, has been postponed until late March.
TravelMole had been invited to the event, which was due to see Tunisia officially unveil its tourism promotion strategy for the next three years.
Hosted by Tunisian Minister of Tourism, Elyes Fakhfakh, the forum was due to be attended by a thousand participants, including government members, professionals, representatives of funding institutions, civil society and associations of development and promotion of sustainable tourism.
Tunisia’s political problems have escalated this week after the resignation of its Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali.
He resigned after failing to reach agreement on forming a new coalition government in response to the political crisis sparked by the killing of opposition leader Chokri Belaid.
