Tourism industry not touched by fires

Friday, 31 Oct, 2003 0

The wildfires that have devastated parts of San Diego County have not spread to the hospitality industry, reported the San Diego North Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Most hotels, restaurants and area attractions remain open for business.

Many hotels are providing discounted or even complimentary rooms for fire victims.

Some attractions have closed in part because of air quality issues, but others such as the Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas, as well as the Del Mar “Scaregrounds” Scream Zone have remained open.

A few hotels have reported cancellations. But no major economic downturn is anticipated from the fire, according to the CVB.
