Tourism KwaZulu-Natal wins prestigious international award
Tourism KwaZulu-Natal has been awarded the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s Ulysses Award for Innovation in Tourism Governance for its programme on information and knowledge management.
The announcement was made by the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Sbu Ndebele at the opening of Indaba 2007. Welcoming this landmark achievement, CEO of Tourism KZN Ndabo Khoza said that TKZN was pulling out all stops to ensure that the Zulu Kingdom is recognised internationally and nationally as a leading tourist destination in Africa.
Tourism infrastructure investment over the past five years amounted to well over R5 billion. This included the expansion of the very building the Mole is in, the ICC and the development of the Zimbali Coastal Resort.
A lot more is in the pipeline. The Dube Trade Port, incorporating the King Shaka Airport, will when completed, enable long-haul flights to finally arrive directly into Durban – and Tourism KwaZulu-Natal is striving to make the Zulu Kingdom a must-see destination.
