Tourism office asks 5,000 Philadelphians to invite friends and family to sleep over in Philly

This summer, as part of the new With Love, Philadelphia XOXO(TM) marketing campaign, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) is asking 5,000 Philadelphians to send postcards to friends and family all over the country inviting them to visit Philadelphia and stay over in a hotel.

Philadelphians can write their messages on pre-stamped postcards at a series of postcard-writing booths throughout Philadelphia in June and July. Locations include Sunoco Welcome America’s Party on the Parkway, at Citizens Bank Park and at Suburban Station.* The booths will be adorned with With Love, Philadelphia XOXO(TM) letters, and postcard writers may receive fun Philly treats, like a taste of Famous Dave’s barbeque or a chance to take a picture with the Philadelphia Phillies’ World Series trophy.

"We want Philadelphia residents to be engaged in the With Love, Philadelphia XOXO(TM) campaign as much as possible," said Meryl Levitz, president and CEO, GPTMC. "That’s why we’re asking them to craft a personalized message to their friends and loved ones inviting them to experience Philadelphia this summer and beyond. With our residents serving as the tour guides and our hotels serving as home base for visitors, everyone wins."

In May, GPTMC launched With Love, Philadelphia XOXO(TM), a new tourism marketing campaign designed to increase leisure visitation and hotel occupancy. The highly customized advertising campaign includes 54 distinctive creative executions and a 30-second television commercial in the form of love letters from Philadelphia encouraging potential visitors to experience a specific aspect of the city. Philadelphia conveys its distinct personality in each message — all of which are signed affectionately With Love, Philadelphia XOXO(TM).

Postcard-writers now have even more incentive to invite their friends and relatives to stay in a Philadelphia hotel. As part of the With Love, Philadelphia XOXO(TM) campaign, visitors who book one of the nearly 100 featured packages on gophila.com/withlove will receive a special gift at check-in. The giveaway includes a Philadelphia Privileges coupon book, a five-pack of With Love postcards, a With Love pin and Philly Fill-Ins word games, along with other brochures, coupons and maps. Visitors can book their selected packages online or by calling the hotel directly.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) makes Philadelphia and The Countryside(R) a premier destination through marketing and image building that increases business and promotes the region’s vitality.
