Tourism Queensland urges: Deal with us
Tourism Queensland CEO Anthony Hayes has urged event organisers to take advantage of the great deals being offered by the state in the wake of recent cyclone and flood damage.
“The best way anyone can help us is to have their next meeting in Queensland. Don’t send you delegates overseas. We are desperate to get whatever business we can and we’re doing deals.â€
Tourism Queensland has launched a five-year global strategy aimed at putting Queensland firmly on the map as one of the world’s top tourist destination.
The campaign will target inter-state, New Zealand and key international markets,
“The strategy’s success will be measured by the number of enquiries and leads generated and passed onto the convention bureaus (in Queensland), which results from the activity,†Hayes said.
Annabel Sullivan, Brisbane Marketing director, Convention Bureau, said that the destination was being helped by a huge goodwill factor.
“We have just secured two national conferences with 850 delegates,†she said, also revealing that Brisbane Marketing is talking to another party who are looking at switching their event from Sydney to Brisbane.
