Tourists at a hotel close to the pyramids of Giza outside Cairo have been targeted as they boarded a coach.

According to reports, there were no casualties but there was some damage to the front of the Three Pyramids Hotel.

Israeli media is reporting that some of the tourists on board were from Isreal.

Initial reports said there were two masked gunmen, on a motor bike, but later reports say there were among a group of around 15 attackers who opened fire with fireworks and rubber bullets.

One gunman was arrested soon after the attack and the other has been surrounded by security forces in Cairo.

In June, gunmen shot dead two policemen close to the pyramids.

The Foreign Office travel advice for Cairo and the pyramids has not been changed in light of the attacks.
