Tourist couple mowed down on NYC sidewalk
Two Oregon tourists who dreamed New York City would be like the romantic movie “Autumn in New York” starring Richard Gere instead found it was more like a “Frankenstein” horror film.
The pair from Eugene, Oregon, was mowed down by an out-of-control SUV in midtown.
Kum Ja Choi and Seon Hawn Kim were both treated at a hospital.
“I was on a pedestrian sidewalk. I would never have imaged a car would run into me,” Ms Choi told the New York Daily News.
“After I got hit by the car, I was knocked out,” Mr Kim said. ”After a few seconds, I regained consciousness and saw my wife. I heard her screaming.”
The pair, who emigrated from South Korea two years ago, was on their last day of a week-long vacation that included stops in Canada and Niagara Falls.
They had seen the Statute of Liberty and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among other sights, but were not overly impressed with the city.
“New York is so unruly,” concluded Ms Choi.
