Tourists die in express bus crash
Twenty-four Thais and two Malaysians were killed in Malaysia’s worst road accident when an express bus they were travelling in overturned and crashed into a rocky slope, about 15km from Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The double-decker bus had 37 people on board when it was returning from Cameron Highlands.
It breached a concrete divider, rolled over a few times and crashed roof-side into a rocky slope before coming to a halt on its side in a monsoon drain.
A police chief said, “At this point in time, we cannot ascertain the cause of the accident but police suspect that it could have been caused by a technical problem or speeding.”
The Malaysians who died were believed to be the bus driver and a tour guide, both employees of San Express Holiday Sdn Bhd.
