Tourists hit by new Mallorca tax
Touists heading to the Balearics will face a new tax from January in a move that could further dent tourism to Spain.
According to the Mallorca Daily Bulletin, holidaymakers will be charged up to £3.40 a day if they hire a car in Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera.
ABTA said the move could hit tourist numbers to Spain at a time when arrivals are already falling.
“Spain is no longer regarded as a good value destination and this will encourage thagt perception,” a spokesman said. “It is extremely short-sighted.”
