Tours can save travelers 40%
So just how much money can travelers save when buying a package tour instead of making their own arrangements?
How about $35 to $230 a day?
That’s what the US Tour Operators Association found when they studied the issue.
They say savings during high season ranges from a low of $35 a night on a 10-night European river tour to $230 a day on a 15-day tour visiting several countries.
“The survey also found that travelers can reap savings up to an additional 40% by traveling during the low season,” the report said.
Said Mike Kazlauskas of Image Tours:
“The actual cost of a Europe tour at rack rates comes out to be much more than 40%, but it sounds too unbelievable that it literally can cost double to go on your own instead of on an escorted tour.”
Said John Severini, president of Trafalgar Tours:
“Basically, we provide a whole experience for the price of a hotel room.”
