Travel agents see air ticket value increase

The value of airline tickets sold by U.S. based travel agencies has increased 1.32% year-on-year.

ARC, the financial settlement link between airlines and travel sellers, reports the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S-based travel agencies increased 1.32% year-over-year in the first eleven months of 2013 compared to the same period last year.

Sales totaled $80.9 billion vs. $79.8 billion in 2012.

Sales for November 2013 were $6.2 million, a 1.1% increase over November 2012.

As of November 30, ticket transactions for 2013 remained virtually flat at -0.88% with 133.5 million transactions versus 134.7m transactions over the same period in 2012.

Year-to-date passenger segments decreased 2.1% to 335.2m compared to 342.4 million in the first eleven months of 2012 and 342.3m in 2011.
