Travel Indochina’s reponsibility………..
Travel Indochina says it has long been dedicated to responsible travel, and have become known throughout the industry for its work and contributions, both on the ground in Asia and at their offices internationally.
Recently, the Travel Indochina Responsible Travel Committee met in Sydney to outline plans for the next year, and the company is pleased to announce that over $15,000USD will be assigned to several worthwhile organisations across Asia in the coming year.
Travel Indochina considered many charitable groups when deciding who to assist, and will be working with those outlined below:
In Ho Chi Minh City, the Loreto foundation assists over 3,000 disadvantaged and disabled children.
Also based in Ho Chi Minh City, Creativity for Humanity offers underprivileged locals with business development services for small-scale handicraft enterprises.
This grassroots approach to aid has been a tremendous success in Southern Vietnam, and Travel Indochina passengers will start receiving stylish, reusable shopping bags from the organisation in order to curtail the use of plastic bags.
In India the Purkal Youth Development Society provides educational interventions and supportive actions in nutrition, health and other activities for young people and women, and Travel Indochina’s support is going to lead to the creation of its first properly-functioning library of books and learning materials. In Cambodia, the Angkor Hospital for Children is the recipient of a scholarship fund from Travel Indochina, which pays the salary of a young nurse named Phannsy to carry out the hospital’s in- and out-patient care of up to 500 needy children each day (Travel Indochina also funded Phannsy’s training before her graduation, certification and subsequent employment by the hospital).
And in Laos, Big Brother Mouse comprises a team of dedicated Laotians who produce and disseminate children’s books in rural villages to promote literacy in areas where less than half the population can read; Travel Indochina’s contribution to Big Brother Mouse will see the book Animals of Australia printed in the capital, Vientiane, and then shared with children across the country.
“These organisations, and others across Asia, allow us to give back to those who need it most in the part of the world we call home,” says Antony Giblin, Responsible Travel Coordinator.
“We practice a thorough, realistic RT policy and believe that travel should entail an exchange of knowledge and perspectives, a sharing of wealth, and a genuine appreciation of Asia’s beautiful natural environments. This philosophy underpins the heart and soul of our style of travel and delivers a long-term positive impact.”
