Travel IT sector gears up for ENTER 2002
More than 100 speakers will take part in travel and tourism information technology conference ENTER 2002 later this month.
They will include Expedia Europe managing director Simon Breakwell, Ebookers chief executive and founder Dinesh Dhamija and Andbook chief executive Michael Madison. Over 300 visitors are expected to attend the specialised event, which takes place from January 23-25 in Innsbruck, Austria.
The conference is organised by IFITT (International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism). IFITT marketing director and ENTER 2002 organiser Karsten Kärcher told TravelMole that he expects multi-channel distribution will be one of the key themes for this year’s conference. He said: “It’s very much about realism. The dot com bubble has burst so the focus will be on multi channel strategies and combining existing and new channels.”
In addition to a series of panel debates with top industry figures, ENTER 2002 features a full programme of seminars, including several on specific sectors such as air travel and tourism, together with a programme of networking events.
IFITT’s mission is to enable the travel and tourism sectors to capitalise on breakthroughs in technology by setting the agenda for the development of new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The organisation has 300 members including the Norwegian Tourist Board, Amadeus, Irish Tourist Board, Telewest, Institute of Tourism Management, and Canada’s CRS Technology Corporation.
