Travel Messengerâ„¢ revs up its agency pricing strategy to meet market demands

Monday, 10 Mar, 2008 0

The innovative new travel product, Travel Messengerâ„¢, which provides a host of often vital travel information via SMS to mobiles, has modified its pricing to suit the length of travel.

“Agencies have wanted to bundle or value-add Travel Messenger™ for shorter trips so we have revised the pricing to meet this demand making it a much more flexible product,” Loop9 CEO Mark McCormack, whose company developed the technology, said.

New pricing is based similarly to insurance durations and gives a travel agency more opportunity to make commission on the product.

The new Travel Messengerâ„¢ rates, available from March 15, are:

8 day coverage $10

16 day coverage $15

31 day coverage $22

62 days coverage $27

“This means that a traveller is covered for less than 50 cents a day.”

“At these prices, Travel Messengerâ„¢ can be bundled or up-sold on every trip just like insurance, and the agency gets all the branding and relationship benefits that keep customers coming back”.

McCormack said the new SMS technology, developed over the last two years, has now been signed up with over 100 travel agencies.

“The response has been fantastic – owners know that relationships are the key to increased revenue and access to the lifetime customer value of a traveller.”

While the Travel Messenger™ product sends automated ‘Bon Voyage’ and ‘Welcome to (CITY)’ SMS messages on behalf of the agency and consultant, the product also product also provides travel warnings, an SMS translation service and access to events in 3000 cities, all available on a travellers mobile phone.
