Travel Republic has added a rental division offering cottages, villas and chalets in more than 8,000 destinations.

The online travel firm said the move was in response to customer demand and that it will now offer 35,000 properties including cottages in the UK, villas in Europe and worldwide, and a raft of ski chalets.

Paul Furner, chief executive of Travel Republic, said: "We want holidaymakers to think of Travel Republic, whether they’re booking two weeks in the Florida sun, a week in Majorca, a short break in Cornwall, or a family skiing holiday."

Travel Republic has also launched a new online tool, "Holiday Deal Finder" where customers with a rough idea of budget and departure dates, can search a range of options.

Furner said: "They can filter by departure airport, star rating and duration and use an interactive Google map to bag a bargain."
