Tuesday sees Lastminute.com show the way again on a day of mixed fortunes
There were few drastic movements for industry shares on London’s equity markets yesterday, as the main indices moved in different directions.
While the FTSE 100 index was more or less static, losing just 1.2 points to close at 4073.6, the FTSE 250 flew ahead and put on 77.3 points to finish at 5128.9. Some 4.5 billion shares were traded by the 6pm count.
The best performer in the sector was lastminute.com, which pushed ahead 6.75p to end the day at 186.75, while its online rival ebookers lost a penny to close at 480p. Among the airlines, British Airways added 1.25p for a 168.75p finish, EasyJet gaind apenny to close at 249p, and Ryanair ended the day at 409p, 1.5p down.
First Choice Holidays moved ahead 3.5p to close at 118.5p – a very strong position considering its 64.5p low-point for the year – while MyTravel continued to gain ground, closing 1.25p up at 25p.
