Airline shares enjoyed a positive day yesterday as London’s equity markets pushed ahead to make decent gains.

The FTSE added 0.8 per cent of its value, gaining 34.7 points to close at 4368.8, while the FTSE 250 added 59.1 points to close at 5850.6 – a rise of one per cent.

It was one of the busiest days of the last 12 months, with dealers trading some 4.1 billion shares before the 6pm count.
