Travel Trade Exclusive: OTC signs Lunn Poly deal
Travel Technology Show Special: The Online Travel Company has signed a deal with Lunn Poly that will see the operator launching into selling dynamically packaged city breaks. OTC is white labelling its Build Your Own technology and travel content to Lunn Poly for a new section on its website, called DIY City Breaks. The deal means that Lunn Poly customers will be able to book OTC and Lunn Poly content through the operator’s website, which will maintain a Lunn Poly “look and feel”. OTC group sales director, Vic Darvey told TravelMole: “It’s a great deal for us and follows in line of Priceline, Thomas Cook and others.” The difference with the Thomas Cook deal is that the company only licensed OTC’s BYO technology, but not the content. Mr Darvey told TravelMole that OTC did not regard this sort of white labelling deal as something that could draw customers away from their own website to that of a competitor, which Lunn Poly now is in the short breaks market. He said: “Tour operators are not burying their head in the sand over the issue of dynamic packaging, as many people think. And if they are going to launch it, we’d rather they got the technology and content from us than one of our competitors.” OTC will also provide fulfillment, administration and support under the 15-month contract.
