Travelers and convention-goers find Charleston “friendliest”

Friday, 30 Oct, 2007 0

Where do travelers find the most attractive people? Try Miami, San Diego and Charleston, SC, according to a new survey that generated a huge amount of responses (60,000).

Charleston also ranked #2 for the categories of “Friendliness” and “Architecture & Notable Buildings.”

Local Charleston officials said some of the reasons included the convention and visitors business there.

Terri Haack, Chairman of the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, said major reasons the Charleston area has developed a strong presence in the rankings over the past several years is because there are so many aspects of its appeal.

“There truly is something for everyone,” she said. “Looking for golf and beaches? We have that. World-class shopping, fine dining, and spas? We have that too. Fishing and boating – check.” She added:

“The friendliest people to welcome you and help you find your way? Yes, we certainly have that as well.”

The poll was a joint effort on behalf of Travel + Leisure and Robin & Company on Headline News.
