Travellers to France warned of mass demonstrations today
Dozens of demonstrations are taking place across France today as part of a 24-hour strike by public sector workers, which could disrupt travel plans.
A number of unions have called for protests ‘against social injustice’ in many major cities. The national union CGT has published a map of locations across the country where demonstrators are likely to gather.
A statement from the Foreign Office said some transport operators, such as the rail company SNCF, have published advice for travellers in case of disruption.
It added: "We advise you to check with your transport operator before you travel, avoid demonstrations and follow the advice of local authorities."
