Travelling to Europe? Prepare for delays
Travellers across Europe are bracing for a six-day French air traffic control strike.
Airlines have been forced to cancel dozens of flights and have warned of potential delays to all flights crossing French airspace this week.
A similar walkout last year led to the cancellation of around 1,800 flights a day across Europe.
The strike, in the midst of the peak tourist season in France, follows a rail protest that affected train services.
The strikers are protesting against planned cuts which are part of a European Commission plan, called Single Sky Europe, to reduce air navigation costs by organising airspace into blocks, according to traffic flows rather than national borders.
