TravelMole Secret Agent Comment!
I was chatting the other day with the President of my Golf Club, who incidentally is an electrician, the conversation got around to pay structures.
Well you could have blown my fuse when he told me ‘sparky’s’ working under him were being paid up to $80 per hour…………plus a rostered day off per fortnight!
By now I was beginning to think that those 40 odd years ago when I left school and went down the road of sales and sales administration had been well wasted.
So I let him buy the next round!
30 years working in travel have certainly been exciting and eventful, but profitable – well in not in a financial way that’s for sure.
We seem to work our proverbials off for scant reward and clients who then want the lowest price you can offer – so what do we do – we discount…!
It’s funny though I can’t remember any tradesperson I have used offering me a discount when I say I could get a better price from someone else – or am I naïve!
Anyway here I am on a beautiful Friday afternoon pining after a game of golf and where is the next $ coming from this week.
Well I must go now just heard the better half asking if I can change a fuse….
Now if this takes 1 hour can I charge $80 … I wish!
