Travelodge acquires more sites

Travelodge has agreed deals on 44 new properties this year and has added 146 new locations to its wish list.

The hotel chain is partnering with supermarkets and pub chains in a bid to make out of town and city centre sites more viable.

Of the 146 new locations earmarked, 65 are in Greater London showing the demand for affordable hotel rooms is not just in prime central areas.

Guy Parsons, chief executive of Travelodge, said: “Greater London is a big focus for us.  Outside of Central London, many of the London Boroughs have almost no supply of good quality, branded hotel accommodation, despite major population centres, good local business drivers and easy access into the West End and City.

"Teaming up with other major retailers means that prime locations which might not be affordable for either party individually, become available.”
