Travelodge coming back to Malaysia with two KL hotels
Travelodge is checking in to Malaysia for the first time in a generation, with two new central Kuala Lumpur properties.
Travelodge Central Market and Travelodge Bukit Bintang are both expected to open in Q3 of this year.
Travelodge Central Market is located close to the popular downtown tourist attraction of the same name and will have 203 rooms.
The nearby Travelodge Bukit Bintang will feature 168 newly renovated rooms in the heart of the Bukit Bintang shopping and entertainment district less than a kilometre away from the KL’s iconic Petronas Twin Towers.
"Travelodge was an iconic brand in Malaysia in the 90s, and we are delighted to bring the brand back to Kuala Lumpur with two great hotels in such superb locations. These hotels will serve as a springboard for the growth of the Travelodge brand across Malaysia," said Stephen Burt, chairman of Travelodge Hotels Asia.
Burt said the firm is looking at other Malaysian sites including Penang, Melaka and Kota Kinabalu.
Malaysia is the fourth country for Travelodge’s Asia refocus after signing two hotels in Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
