Travelport data: International travel recovery gains momentum
US summer travel has reached 66% of pre-pandemic international travel bookings, according to Travelport summer booking data.
While the domestic travel recovery outpaced international travel, in February 2022 the recovery rate for international travel bookings peaked – and briefly surpassed the domestic travel recovery rate.
Based on flights booked in April 2022 alone, it reached 76% of April 2019 booking levels.
Travelport’s data also shows business travel bookings recovered to 65% of its pre-pandemic levels.
Cancun, Mexico, London and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic retained their top three spots as most popular international summer destinations
Montego Bay climbed to number four for 2022 from seventh in 2019, while Paris fell from the top five in 2019 to sixth this year.
New York and Orlando are the hottest domestic destinations this summer, as was the case pre-pandemic, while Seattle displaced Las Vegas at number three.
