Travelsupermarket strikes Guardian web deal
Travel price comparison website www.travelsupermarket.com has forged a link with the Guardian to provide a destination matching tool for the newspaper’s website.
The tool claims to match travel deals to suit the destination a user is reading about.
Live on Guardian Unlimited Travel, the new feature monitors the destination the user is reading about and programmes a gadget within the article to provide bespoke travel deals.
For example, if a user clicks on to an article about New York, the tool will automatically provide a search box programmed with details of the country and city, as well as a dropdown list of the city’s airports. Users then have the option to conduct a search according to their required dates and departure airport.
Travelsupermarket.com director Chris Nixon said: “We are very excited to be the first to offer an intuitive and interactive tool that can tailor offers directly to a viewer’s interests. And because the tool searches all the travel providers’ websites, in real time, the user is offered the best possible deals in the market.”
Nixon added: “Once the tool has been successfully implemented on the Guardian Unlimited site, we will roll it out to other interested sites.”
Annie Wilson, online partnerships manager for the Guardian, said: “We are pleased to be the first site to offer this innovative, user-friendly service. It provides users with relevant, competitive information, enabling them to choose the best deal for their needs.”
