Travelzoo president of Europe to become Monarch Holidays MD
Monarch has appointed Travelzoo’s Richard Singer as its new managing director of Monarch Holidays and Richard Jewsbury to the newly-created role of chief corporate development officer of the Monarch Group.
Singer, who announced his resignation as Travelzoo’s president Europe last month, will replace Richard Francis who is moving to the role of deputy chief finance officer, Monarch group.
He said: "I’m delighted be joining the Monarch team at such an exciting phase in its 50 year history. To become part of one of the most respected and well-known brands in travel is a tremendous opportunity. I’m looking forward to using my experience in marketing, product and distribution to ensure that Monarch Holidays becomes an even more significant part of the group."
Before joining Travelzoo, which he is due to leave on September 30, Singer held senior positions at the Telegraph Media Group, including general manager of travel.
Jewsbury was most recently Emirates’ head of projects and performance development within the enterprise transformation team.
He has also spent time at Air New Zealand and was previously at the investment bank JP Morgan.
Commenting on the changes to his executive team, Monarch CEO Andrew Swaffield said: "I would like to welcome both Richard Jewsbury and Richard Singer to the Monarch team and the Group Executive Committee.
"We are very excited to have them on board to help us with the next very exciting part of the Monarch journey as we prepare to take delivery of our new aircraft, celebrate our 50th anniversary and grow Monarch Holidays.
"Both of them bring a wealth of industry experience to the business with proven track records and considerable skills. Together with our existing Executive Committee members, I know that we now have an excellent team in place to accelerate the development of the company in the coming years.
"I would like to thank Richard Francis for all his work as managing director of Monarch Holidays during the last two years, in particular overseeing the brand transition, the introduction of new IT systems and the start of our growth plan. I am delighted that he will be assuming the new position of deputy CFO, bringing his extensive financial experience to the role."
