Treasure Island hatches Turtle naming rights plan
Treasure Island Resort is once again offering its guests a great opportunity to do their bit in helping to protect one of the resort’s more unusual inhabitants – its resident Hawksbill Turtles.
With hundreds of one-year-old Hawksbills due for tagging and release guests staying at the resort will be offered the opportunity to give a donation to ‘sponsor’ a turtle by shelling out to have their name featured on the special tags.
The funds will go towards building a new turtle enclosure as the program continues to expand.
The resort this week announced the safe arrival of several hundred Hawksbill hatchlings, with another 400 are due to emerge at any moment.
Treasure Island Resort’s younger guests are actively encouraged to take hands on roles in the resort’s Hawksbill Turtle hatchling program – from harvesting the hatchlings as they emerge from beachside nesting areas to feeding, moving and finally releasing the one-year-olds.
The resort’s environmentally-oriented ‘Kids Club’ program also allows the kids to discover several of the island’s other unusual animal species – endangered Fiji Crested Iguanas and flightless Banded Rails, distant cousins of the Kiwi bird.
Treasure Island Resort is offering five-night family stays with all meals in ocean view bure accommodation from $1850* for a family of four based on two adults sharing with two children under 12 years of age.
This is inclusive of daily breakfast, morning and afternoon tea, lunch and dinner with dinner choice ranging from an extensive buffet to a la carte dining in the resort’s Elevuka Restaurant.
The resort’s complimentary facilities include sailing, kayaking, canoeing, surf skiing, snorkelling and hand line fishing to coral viewing, volleyball, tennis, minigolf and a fully-equipped gym.
