Triton conference special: Heal – we´ve been a success
Worldchoice chairman Colin Heal claimed Triton had succeeded in four major areas since its formation 18 months ago.
He claimed the achievements had been made in a difficult climate, following the commission cuts of 2005.
“Let me remind you of our achievements,” said Heal. “In November 2005, Thomson introduced draconian commission cuts, followed by First Choice, and it seemed others would follow.
“Firstly we had to halt that slide, to become our own masters and then to develop Triton Search into a powerful, booking tool.
“We also had to maximise the potential for selling cruise and specialist products and, fourthly, the key to our success was high quality training. We had to make it the best.
“How did we do? In 95% of cases, commissions are either the same or better, which is no mean achievement.
“Triton Search has had development problems but sales have started to rocket and the system gives members access to 240 airlines and 55,000 properties.
“Cruise Advisor has proved popular and we´ve got a new cruise advisor group in the near future.”
Heal said it had also succeeded in training, and was now able to train 15-20 people at a time via the internet.
“This way of training agents saves them time because they do not have to move out of their offices.”
Heal said much had been achieved in the past 18 months, but there was more work to do.
