Trivago acquires US startup TripHappy
Expedia-owned hotel search platform Trivago has announced the acquisition of US based AI-powered startup TripHappy.
The three year old company uses artificial intelligence to showcase relevant location and neighborhood information during a hotel search and provides recommendations based on personal preferences.
It leverages location data from more than 25,000 neighborhoods in 10,000 cities to identify the most suitable area to stay in.
We are always looking for innovative ways to solve the hotel search problem, making it easier for travelers to find their ideal accommodation. The TripHappy team’s long-term vision aligns with our own, and we believe the team’s approach to product innovation will be a great fit," said Elie Matta, head of corporate development at Trivago.
TripHappy was founded in 2015 by Calvin Hawkes, Carl Grafmuller and Ben Granas who will all join Trivago’s hotel search team.
Last year Trivago acquired another AI startup called Tripl which also makes tailored recommendations.
